Exhibition at House of Sweden: Julia Peirone – I Am Not Blonde

12:00 PM - 5:00 PM House of Sweden (2900 K St NW)

Through her photography, Peirone explores young girls’ search for identity in a world influenced by social media, capturing the frustration many of them feel with today’s beauty standards and expectations. Her photographs are not portraits in the conventional sense, as they challenge modern-day norms and conceptions. Instead, they focus on flaws and imperfections, showing girls when they are unguarded and exposed.

“Sails Away” Exhibition: Constructed Prints by Kate Lowman

2:00 PM - 5:00 PM Washington Printmakers Gallery (1675 Wisconsin Ave NW)

These prints retain the memory of the sun, wind, and water where they began. Constructed from multiple photographs of radio-operated model sailboats, they keep the texture and detail of their originals, but the end result moves wholly or partly into abstraction.
