Streatery Guidance
Overview
The Georgetown BID obtained DDOT Streatery permits in response the COVID-19 emergency and need for a strong recovery. The Georgetown Decks along M Street, Wisconsin Avenue and some side streets accommodate and/or enable the following:
- Social distancing for pedestrians on expanded sidewalks
- Vibrant outdoor dining
- Safer conditions waiting for buses
- Loading zones and pick-up/drop-off zones for visitors
- More bike and scooter parking to keep sidewalks clear
The Streatery permit will likely run as long as COVID-19 remains a public health threat, and beyond.

How to Participate
For any business to use the Streatery curb lane / Georgetown Decks space, the following steps must be completed:
- Read all BID and DDOT regulations and sign the Georgetown Streatery Use Agreement (see below)
- Participate in a Streatery 101 course provided by the BID
- Provide the BID-required documentation, including the signed agreement. Contact the BID’s Streatery project management team at Streatery@georgetowndc.com for details.
