Seven picks for your shopping list from “modern-day corner store” Foxtrot, which recently opened in Georgetown.

Bitty & Beau’s, a self-described “human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop,” is coming to Georgetown. The growing chain of coffee shops, which primarily employs individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has signed a lease for 3207 M St. NW, formerly a Calvin Klein store.

Wendell Allsbrook held the grand opening for his place, Georgetown Butcher, on March 9, 2020. Two days later, the global pandemic was declared. Wendell pivoted, and made his dream work.

Georgetown GLOW, the free outdoor public art exhibition, will return for its seventh edition on April 2. The six-month series will feature a majority of D.C. artists, with five artworks exhibited in the spring and three in the summer.

GLOW – the free immersive light display – has been rescheduled for April. Among the installations: Stephanie Mercedes’s The Weight of a Rainbow, which comes alive with soothing sounds in the presence of visitors.

The Avocado Green Mattress Store, in Georgetown’s Cady’s Alley, is more than just a mattress retail outlet. It has space for future yoga classes and a speaker series, as well as a wellness cafe that serves locally sourced snacks and fresh kombucha tea on tap.

The grab-and-go store has food by Erik Bruner-Yang, and also delivers.

EastBanc Inc. has kicked off a conversion of the former Brooks Brothers store in Georgetown into a retail lab concept to foster the growth of local businesses at a time when many shops are fighting to keep their doors open amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
