Maya Patel

Senior Manager of Economic Development

As the BID’s Senior Manager of Economic Development, Maya leads stakeholder engagement and generates reports to address community data needs to ensure the long-term economic vitality of the neighborhood. Maya works closely with the BID’s Placemaking Director, Nat Cannon, to think through: land use, urban planning, transportation policy and creating a competitive environment to a) attract new businesses b) maintain and build trust within the business community. Maya holds a Bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge. She previously worked as a Budget Analyst at the U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) and brings retail experience with several local businesses, including The Phoenix and Take Care. Maya lives locally and is within walking distance of the BID’s office. Outside of work, Maya enjoys supporting local businesses, frequenting the city’s newest restaurants, Pilates, running, and dog sitting with her fiancée.

Favorite Things to Do in Georgetown: Kayaking on running by the waterfront, Pilates at MVMNT, buying gifts at The Phoenix or Take Care, lunch at Chaia or Southblock, dinner at La Bonne Vache and Osteria Mozza, walking along Grace Street, shopping at Alas Eius (amongst so many others!)
