New Outdoor Play at Tudor Place

General   •   May 28, 2026

Picnic Theatre Company is returning to Tudor Place (1644 31st St NW) with a new summer play, My Favorite Year: A 1960s Late Night Comedy Parody. According to the production company, the play is “loosely based on the life of young Mel Brooks and set in the 1960s, where a new TV comedy writer must get the world’s biggest star to her appearance on the King Kiser Comedy Hour on time and sober. Meanwhile, the cast of the TV show struggles to stay relevant in a time of radically changing sexual mores, civil rights, anti-war activism, and hippie counter-culture.” Performances are on Wednesday, June 3 and Friday, June 5. Bring chairs, blankets, and a picnic to enjoy before or during the performance. Grounds open at 5:30 pm, and the play begins at 7 pm.
