Bakery Selling Award-Winning Cake

Heart of Azovstal, a nonprofit org that provides support to Mariupol defenders, has partnered with Dog Tag Inc on Taste of Freedom – a project to help advocate for the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war and raise awareness. As part of their efforts, Dog Tag Inc and Heart of Azovstal held a Ukrainian recipe contest for veterans. The winner – a Cossack honey cake baked by Oleksandr Didur, a Mariupol defender and freed prisoner of war – is being sold at Dog Tag Bakery through March 20. The dessert features a sour cream-based frosting, with a cranberry filling and honey and lemon juice glaze. Each slice comes with the story of a Ukrainian POW. Whole cakes can also be purchased online.
