Bike to Work Day

Each May, nearly 17,000 area commuters celebrate bicycling as a clean, fun and healthy way to get to work during. The Georgetown BID sponsors a “pit stop” in Georgetown Waterfront Park where commuters can enjoy complimentary refreshments, snacks and bicycle-themed giveaways.

C&O Canal Boat Tours

10:00 AM - 4:00 PM C&O Canal

Boat rides are available five days a week, offering one-hour guided historical tours along the first mile of the C&O Canal National Historical Park (NHP). Visitors will learn about the fascinating history, technology and culture of the Canal, and the surprising stories of the people who lived, worked and played here over the past two centuries.

American History Trivia Night with City Tavern

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM City Tavern Club (3206 M St NW)

Come back to the City Tavern Club to show off your history chops with a night of American History trivia! Hosted at the historic 1796 City Tavern, join DC Design Tours founder Carolyn Muraskin and City Tavern historian Brian Bello to test your American History knowledge! First Ladies, Georgetown, Presidential favorite foods, and, of course, DC architecture, are all on the table.

Voices of Zion Immersive Music-Theatre Experience

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Alliance for New Music Theatre has partnered with Mt Zion - Female Union Band Historic Memorial Park, Inc. for the creation of Voices of Zion, an original immersive music-theatre experience opening as a world premiere this May. They are offering the work to honor Dumbarton United Methodist Church in its 250th anniversary year and Mount Zion United Methodist Church, the area’s oldest African American congregation. Audiences are invited to dig deeper into some of the complex history of African American Georgetown.
