Clyde’s of Georgetown

3236 M Street, NW
Visit Website

In 1963, Clyde’s tried out a formula to update the good ole American saloon: good food, good drink, good value, and good company were sure to be a good, if not great, bet. The first of what has become the 12 restaurants of the Clyde’s Group, Clyde’s of Georgetown in 1963 was an immediate sensation and the buzz hasn’t died down since. The long oak bar, plank flooring, original oil paintings, and the popular Back Bar with its vintage railroad posters evoke “the good life” of a bygone era and established the patina and style that has become the restaurant’s distinctive signature. Serving up everything from crab cake sandwiches to steak, and hosting half-priced wine every Sunday, Clyde’s late-afternoon appetizer menu inspired the 1976 hit, Afternoon Delight, and the gold record hangs at the original Clyde’s today.
