  • Anchor stars are a familiar site on many of Georgetown’s historic buildings. In 18th century building, the stars were used on exterior walls for structural reinforcement.
  • Located on the Potomac River, Georgetown is a place for recreation. Kayakers, runners, and bikers revel in the fitness-friendly atmosphere.
  • The iconic Blues Alley has been a staple in Georgetown since 1965, hosting some of the jazz elite - Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson, and Grover Washington Jr. It is also the nation's oldest continuing jazz supper club.
  • The DC Circulator bus has two lines serving Georgetown – the Union Station-Georgetown line and the Dupont-Georgetown-Rosslyn line. The bus runs every 10 minutes.
  • Georgetown is the place to find gourmet fare. Local and imported food and wine are stocked at neighborhood groceries and restaurants.
  • The Shops at Georgetown Park is home to some of Georgetown’s great retail and restaurants – including J. Crew, Anthropologie, Intermix, J. Paul’s and Clyde's.
  • Georgetown is full of "homegrown" businesses. Companies such as Georgetown Cupcake have gained national recognition for their products.
  • The Georgetown BID’s 11-member clean team keeps the streets tidy with trash removal, street sweeping, graffiti removal, and overall maintenance.
  • The historic C&O Canal runs straight through Georgetown and offers a great trail for running, walking, and biking.

  • The Georgetown Waterfront, located on the Potomac River, is the perfect place to enjoy some of the neighborhood’s best restaurants and nightlife. The newest addition to the waterfront is the Georgetown Waterfront Park which offers a relaxing place to take in a boat race or have a picnic.
  • Book Hill, located on upper Wisconsin Avenue between P Street and Reservoir Road, boasts cobblestone streets and over 30 local, independent shops. Quaint cafes, art galleries, clothing shops, and more line the street in this charming shopping destination.
  • Entertainment abounds in Georgetown including The Loews Theatres on K Street, NW, Blues Alley and The Saloun.
  • Georgetown's iconic flower baskets (290 of them) are in bloom from April until October. The fuchsia petunias add a splash of color on the lively streets.
