Chez Mama-San, located across from Cady's Alley on 33rd Street, NW, welcomes guests into their two-level, restored, historic late-Victorian house, built in 1900 with exposed brick walls and open wood beam ceilings.
The cuisine is a Japanese home-style comfort food of Westernized dishes as interpreted for the Japanese palate, called "yo-shoku," the creation of Izumi Yoshimoto. Entrees range from cutlets and meatloaf to curry and croquettes. Desserts include beignets and a selection of homemade ice creams. Drink selections include red and white wines, cold and hot sake, and Japanese and other imported beers.
