SAVE THE DATE / Spring Days of Design is May 3-5, 2018 -- three days of interior design events at 15+ stores and showrooms in Georgetown. Check out the current schedule below. Click here for the event brochure, and click here for the event map.

The event will officially kick off with a Days of Design Cocktail Crawl on Thursday, May 3 from 5 pm – 8 pm. Stop in the **12 participating showrooms for sips and snacks, and enter to win an amazing collection of prizes.

Beginning that Thursday, attendees are also invited to pick up an event passport at one of the participating showrooms and bring it with them as they explore three days of interior design events. Present the passport at the participating retailers for a Days of Design stamp at each location, upon completion of their showroom activity. Drop it off at any participating retailer at the end of the event (or by May 8, 2018) for a chance to win one of many prizes with a minimum of five stamps—with at least one stamp in each geographic area (Cady’s Alley & Nearby, Wisconsin Avenue South of M & North of M). Winners to be notified by email by May 15, 2018.

Prizes include a $500 gift certificate to The Shade Store; German Kitchen Center table; $300 gift certificate to BoConcept; Waterworks Bath in a Box gift set; DUXIANA travel accessory set; W.T. Weaver & Sons Crosswater Elements shower head; and home accessories from Resource Furniture, Calligaris, Jonathan Adler, SCAVOLINI, and Design Within Reach.

THURSDAY, MAY 3

10 am - Noon: Residential Bathroom Design: Fittings & Fixtures CEU / Waterworks (3314 M Street NW). This course explores the different specification areas of the bathroom and options for each. These areas include the sink, toilet, bathtub, and shower enclosure. The options and features of each are examined, along with the corresponding fixtures (hold water) and fittings (delivering water). 

Noon - 2 pm: Design Workshop: Creating the Perfect Window / The Shade Store (3324 M Street NW)Stop by with a current project--or photos of your space--and enjoy refreshments while taking a look at The Shade Store's newest material collections and recieving one-on-one guidance from their design consultants. Get your technical questions answered, create idea boards, and start your window treatment project with confidence.

2 pm - 4 pm: What's In a Square Foot: Transforming & Space-Saving Furniture - The Power to Change Space CEU / Resource Furniture (3340 Cady's Alley NW). This presentation explores the role transforming and space-saving furniture plays in interior design. The presentation will look at the genesis of space-saving furniture, the state of space-saving furniture design, specific benefits--such as economic and environmental impacts--of its application, and where things may go in the future. You'll explore how space-saving furniture can create interiors that are more compact and efficient than conventionally furnished spaces, while retaining aesthetics and levels of comfort often limited to spaces decorated with conventional furniture. 

4 pm - 6 pm: Sip and Cie / JANUS et Cie (3304 M St NW)Join JANUS et Cie for light refreshments while perusing their new Konos and Hatch collections.

4 pm - 6 pm: Good Design Award / BoConcept (3342 M St NW). The Ottawa sofa, designed by world-renowned designer Karim Rashid, won the "Good Design Award" for its unique design without compromising comfort. Check out the award-winning sofa while enjoying hors d' oeuvres, wine and juice.

6 pm - 8 pm: The Diesel Open Workshop Kitchen Project / SCAVOLINI (1005 Wisconsin Ave NW). The SCAVOLINI Store and HOME&DESIGN magazine invite you for a celebratory evening introducing the Diesel Open Workshop: The kitchen restyled with an industrial twist. Cocktails and canapes will be served. 

**5 PM - 8 PM: KICK-OFF COCKTAIL CRAWL. Enjoy sips and bites + the chance to win an amazing collection of prizes. Participating showrooms include B&B Italia, BoConcept, Boffi, Calligaris, Circa Lighting, Design Within Reach, DUXIANA, German Kitchen Center, JANUS et Cie, Jonathan Adler, Resource Furniture, SCAVOLINI, and Waterworks.

FRIDAY, MAY 4

Noon - 2 pm: Lunch CEU: Architecture + Kitchen by Leicht USA / German Kitchen Center (1010 Wisconsin Ave NW, Suite 200). Join German Kitchen Center for an inside look at how to forecast kitchen trends, presented by veteran designer Sheri Mercadante. Learn about new technological advances making luxury finishes more durable + affordable and get inspired by some small but mighty kitchens utilizing smart storage solutions. Lunch will be served. 2 pm - 4 pm: Bathing in Luxury CEU / W.T. Weaver & Sons (1208 Wisconsin Ave NW). Join W.T. Weaver & Sons for refreshments, beverages, and an informative CEU on how the bath + bathtub should be incorporated in more design specs. The course will cover several strategies when designing the bath area and how these improvements will quantify to the value of the home. W.T. will also cover the intangible aspects - influence in lifestyle, health and wellness. Please register here.

2 pm - 4 pm: Iconic Designs Now In Store / Calligaris (3328 M St NW). Join Calligaris and experience the new Spring 2018 Collection with Prosecco and light fare.

6 pm – 8 pm: Galerie Blue Square Artist Showcase / B&B Italia (3320 M Street NW). Stop by B&B Italia to view a showcase of artworks from Galerie Blue Square. Galerie Blue Square is dedicated to celebrating the talents of artists inspired by the principles and philosophies of the Russian avant-garde.

6 pm - 8 pm: Thos. Moser DC Scholarship Fundraiser / Thos. Moser (1028 33rd St NW)While you're attending Days of Design, join the Maine State Society Foundation for an evening in Georgetown to raise scholarship funds for Mainers to attend Maine colleges. Enjoy sips, small bites, live jazz by Brad Terry, and a silent auction featuring the Maine artisans. The evening will include the official announcement of the Foundation's 2018 scholar recipients and 10% off all Thos. Moser furniture purchases. Purchase tickets in advance.

 

SATURDAY, MAY 5

10 am - Noon: Thurston Reed Pop-up Shop / Pillar & Post (1647 Wisconsin Ave NW). Pillar & Post will host decorative pillow and home-design brand Thurston Reed for a pop-up shop all day Saturday, May 5, with pastries and mimosas from 10 am - Noon. 

10 am  – Noon: Brunch With Baker Furniture / Baker Furniture (3330 M St NW)Come enjoy brunch with Baker Furniture, featuring light fare and white peach bellinis. While in the showroom, experience the sleek and more minimalist pieces from the new Thomas Pheasant collection! New materials, new silhouettes, and design innovation add to his distinct vision for Baker and vocabulary for today’s culture and passions.

Noon - 2 pm: Flower Demo with Taffy Floral / Design Within Reach (3338 M St NW). Local florist Taffy Floral will demo spring-inspired floral arrangements for planters, vases, and more, with helful tips on accessorizing a space. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be provided during the presentation, and guests will have the chance to enter a raffle.

Noon - 2 pm: Celebrating Days of Design / DUXIANA (3307 Cady's Alley NW). Since 1926, DUXIANA has aspired to produce the most comfortable and technologically advanced beds on the market.   

3 pm - 6 pm: Shop Jonathan Adler's Top Five Picks for Spring / Jonathan Adler (1267 Wisconsin Ave NW). Join the team at our Georgetown shop to learn about Jonathan's favorite new items and collections for Spring. You'll learn about the inspirations behind each product and find out how to add some modern American glamour to your own home. 

5 pm – 8 pm: Spring Art Walk / Georgetown Galleries (Book Hill - Upper Wisconsin Avenue). Pair your new interior purchases with complementary artwork. As Days of Design wraps up, take an evening stroll up Wisconsin Avenue to visit some of the District’s oldest galleries and see a wide range of fine art in the Book Hill area of Georgetown, plus enjoy (more!) sips and bites. Exhibits will feature woodcuts, metal sculptures, paintings, and more from local and international artists alike.
