Join Tudor Place (1644 31st Street, NW) and writer/historian Hugh Howard for a lecture and talk about his book The Painter's Chair. On Thursday, January 24th at 6:30 p.m., Howard will explore the emergence of the American republic through the abundance of portraits of the most indispensable man, George Washington, and the painters who defined him including John Trumbull, Edward Savage, Gilbert Stuart, Charles Willson Peale and Rembrandt Peale. The lecture will be followed by a tour of Washington portraits, some rarely seen, in the Tudor Place collection.
