SHOOT FOR CHANGE

Shoot for Change manifested after a fashion and makeup photoshoot in Stockholm, Sweden. After posting those photos on the web in November 2006, several people asked Walter to take their photos and to name his price. Considering he had just started taking pictures, he was surprised when someone asked him to do this, let alone want to actually pay him. He thought about it and a few hours later, this statement was born:

"All the money from every photoshoot will go to a nonprofit organization of the client's choice."

He typed it, marinated it, debated it, and after several days, he knew this was something he needed to do. Walter Grio's vision is that "Shoot for Change" will take a life of its own and will become a kaleidoscope of highly skilled photographers, models, designers, stylists, and a creative community with one thing in mind: to shoot for change and inspire the world one click at a time.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Walter recently moved to Arlington, VA by way of Seattle and Germany (slightly long story that really should be shared over beers). His "Shoot for Change" story has been featured in Professional Photographer Magazine and his work was recently published in the Fashion Fights Poverty Dress Responsibly Lookbook as well as The Washington Examiner.

CHILDREN'S LAW CENTER

Children’s Law Center envisions a future for the District of Columbia in which every child has a safe home, a meaningful education and a healthy mind and body. We work toward this vision by providing legal services to at-risk children and their families and using the knowledge we gain from representing our individual clients to advocate for changes in the law and its implementation.

Children’s Law Center’s programs foster hope and create opportunity – focusing on the children who need us most … children in the child welfare system and impoverished children and families with special education and health care problems.
