Healthy Days of Summer

Sweat the Small Stuff! To highlight health and wellness programs within Georgetown, the BID is hosting Healthy Days of Summer, a neighborhood-wide promotion event series during the summer months.

Fitness

SUNSET YOGA & PILATES IN THE PARK (Georgetown Waterfront Park): The Georgetown BID, in partnership with Georgetown yoga and pilates studios, will host free one-hour sunset yoga and pilates sessions in the park throughout the summer. Sessions will begin at 6 p.m. in Georgetown Waterfront Park near the intersection of Potomac Street and K Street (Water Street). Please check in upon arrival at the information booth and pick up free water and light refreshments including hippie crack from Baked and Wired and mini-salad samples compliments of Sweetgreen. You must bring your own yoga mat! Space is limited, and RSVPs are required. Namaste.

Athleta (3229 M St NW): Athleta will host "Boot Camp by the Water" on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. They will also host "Marathon Jump Start with DC Road Runners" Saturday mornings from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m. All fitness trainers receive 30% off purchases. City Sports (3338 M St NW): City Sports Run Club meets every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. at City Sports Georgetown! City Sports provides a secure place to store your belongings during the run! Membership is free. For more details, click here

CorePower Yoga (1055 Thomas Jefferson St NW) Corepower Yoga is providing one week of unlimited free yoga to new  and local students. For more details, click here.

Georgetown Neighborhood Library: The Georgetown Neighborhood Library will be running an 8-month nutrition class in cooperation with UDC's Center for Diet, Nutrition, and Health. They will meet once a month for one hour and cover topics such as "healthy holiday eating." For more details, click here
             
Ongoing Yoga- Take an Om break. Georgetown Neighborhood Yoga will have yoga instructors from different disciplines who hope to spread health and wellness to patrons during a busy work week. In addition to their continuing afternoon classes they will now have a few evening classes as well.  All teachers are volunteers via Yoga Activist. To RSVP to any or all classes individuals can email Erika.Rydberg@dc.gov  with their name and the class dates they are interested in. She will take the first 30 RSVPs for each class, the remainder will be put on a wait-list.
        
Georgetown Running Company (3405 M St NW)Georgetown Running Company will host a 5k training program twice weekly on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. To register click here.  They will also continue to host group runs which take place Wednesday mornings at 6:30 p.m. Georgetown Running Company will provide a $5 off promotion coupon and a free gait analysis for running shoes. 
        
Key Bridge Boathouse (3500 Water Street): Key Bridge Boathouse will host Sunrise Dock Yoga (Saturdays at 7 a.m.) Only $10. The experience begins Saturday, June 7. Sign up here. 

Key Bridge Boathouse will also offer community paddling. Enjoy a morning paddle with fellow SUP'ers! Their instructor will pick the day's route, everyone will get on their boards, then we will paddle, and laugh, and have a great time. After the paddle, we will typically go to a local coffee shop for some bean. This is a great way to meet fellow paddle enthusiasts, get on the water before anyone else, and start your day off right! Community Paddle (Fridays at 7 a.m.) *FREE for season pass holders and SUP owners. Nike (3040 M St NW): Nike Training Club is a FREE fitness class held at the Nike Georgetown location. NTC is ideal for people who love the energy of interval training, the intensity of boot camp training, the diversity of sport-based training and people who want results. Only at Nike will you get a live DJ, hype - Nike trainers, product testing, and an incredible workout.
